Server Installation
System Requirements: Windows 2000 Server, 2003 Server or Windows 2008 Server.

To install Server Edition on a server:

  1. Download the self-extracting archive, which can be done from this page, above.
  2. Open the self-extracting archive. The installer will automatically install the printer drivers for Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Windows 7 on the server and create a shared printer that clients can access.
  3. The installation process also installs the full product for use on the server itself.

Client Installation
System Requirements: Windows 2000/XP/Vista/Windows 7

Client installation requires connecting to the shared network printer, installed as above on the server. Client connection to the shared printer can be done via Network Neighborhood or the Add Printer Wizard in the Printers folder.

Automatic Client Updates
When Server Edition is installed on your server, the connected clients are automatically updated with the new version. These updates are performed only when the client computer is rebooted or when a new user is logged on.

Registered vs. Unregistered
The FinePrint Server Edition download on this web page is an unregistered version. It contains all FinePrint features but is intended for evaluation purposes only and is limited to printing 8-page documents with an advertising banner at the bottom of each page.

Once you purchase user licenses you will receive a serial number, which will register your current and new Server Edition users.

Uninstallation
Server Edition can be easily removed from either a client workstation or a server by any of the following methods:

Network Client Support: Supports clients running Windows 95, 98/ME, NT, 2000, XP and Vista including laptops and Terminal Server/Citrix clients.

Centralized Installation
: Install on a Windows server, and any user can install by connecting to a shared printer. Admin access to the workstation is not required.

Shared Configuration: Common settings can be placed on the server for propagation to workstations upon installation.
For example, the duplex printing option can saved on the server and copied to workstations upon installation.
Centralized Updates: When a new version of Server Edition becomes available, you simply install it on the server. Client users are automatically updated to the new version.

Configurable User Interface: Product features can be removed from the user interface if desired. It is also possible to define default settings and remove particular user interface controls ensuring that settings do not change.

License Management: Ensures license compliance and allows monitoring and control of license usage on a single server or a group of connected servers.
